Introduction

At present there is no single, integrated catalogue of the collection of the Centre for Performance History, but a variety of catalogues, card indexes and finding aids that have been prepared to different standards and for different purposes since the early 1970s. Many exist only in hard copy form, but a few have been converted to digital format and where practical will be made available here. The offline catalogues and finding aids may be consulted at the CPH by appointment. For a descriptive list of these unpublished resources and links to related records on the Cecilia database, click here.

Online Catalogues and Finding Aids

The four following online catalogues are hosted by the RCM:

Museum of Instruments, Catalogue Part I: Wind Instruments

Museum of Instruments, Catalogue Part II: Keyboard Instruments

Museum of Instruments, Catalogue Part III: European Stringed Instruments

Museum of Instruments, Catalogue Part IV: Bows for European String Instruments

Information about items from the CPH collections also appear on the following external online resources

Cecilia - entries for a selection of the collections and object types held by the CPH

Concert Programmes Project - collection level descriptions of the main holdings of the CPH
NICE - descriptions (with illustrations) of the paintings by Continental European artists (to 1900)
