Plans of instruments

The following technical drawings have been published by the Museum for the benefit of those wishing to carry out organological research or to build copies of early instruments. These detailed full-scale plans are digital prints on white paper.

RCM 177 Clavichord by Johann Bohak, ?Vienna, 1794, £31
Fret-free. Compass FF-f3. Formerly owned by Joseph Haydn; altered c 1831; the drawing shows conjectured missing parts (including bridge, tangents, tuning pins, upper part of wrest plank, lid and 'nameboard'), based on a clavichord by Ferdinand Hofmann, Vienna, c 1790, and clearly identified. Overall length 1475 mm.
