Edward Howell (1846-1898)

EDWARD HOWELL, born on 5 February 1846, in London, was a pupil of the Royal Academy, and a pupil of Piatti. He worked at the Italian Opera as cellist, and from 1872 at Covent Garden Theatre. Besides this he was Musician in Ordinary to the Queen, and a member of the Philharmonic Society. He taught at the Royal College of Music and at the Guildhall School: W.H.Squire was a notable pupil.
